There will be a press conference on the steps of Clarington Town Hall in Bowmanville Monday May 11th at 10:00 a.m. Please see the Media Advisory below. CUPE Ontario is working with local groups to stop the incineration project so that Durham could move towards safer, less financially risky and more sustainable materials/waste management solutions. Mayor Abernethy placed a notice of motion on Clarington Council's agenda for Monday May 11 to rescind Clarington's decision to be "unwilling host" to the Durham incinerator and to accept the Host Community Agreement (HCA). The HCA is a contract that sets out what Clarington gets in return for hosting the incinerator for the next 25 to 30 years.
